1. What does MoLAA stand for?
MoLAA stands for Museum of Latin American Art
2. What are the video clips about?
#1 An overview of the Museum and information such as where they are,
directions, admission prices, etc. #2 shows the different artists and
samplings of the art pieces they have. #3 clip was removed.
3. What did you learn from the video clips (3 facts per clip; total 9 facts)?
The first clip explained what MoLAA stood for, of course. It also shows that
this museum is not the typical stuffy, shhhh type museum, but has hands-on
activities of Latin American culture which make it fun and enjoyable. I
learned it is in Long Beach, CA.
Clip #2 was a slide show of the art pieces appearing at the museum. I leaned
how varied the art here is, and names of so many artists. I learned how their
art, in many cases, tell such a story...a picture is worth more than 1,000
words....I also learned that in any culture, there is much to be learned
regarding the differences in peoples, yet there is so much that we have in
common- how similar we really are.
Clip #3 states it was removed by the user. I then went to google and searched
for MoLAA news which had the site for their annual auction:
http://www.molaa.org
I found there that the auction for this year will be Oct. 18 and 19 at the
museum with at least 240 art pieces to auction from all over Latin America.
4. Create 3 questions for your classmates based on the clips or websites (tell them which one to go to to find the answer)
1/ Is MoLAA able to adapt its program to the school aged children or primarily
geared to adults?

2/ Who are some of the artists exhibited?

3/ Who is the founder of MoLAA?

5. List any 3 things you learned from the MoLAA website (be specific)
The number one thing that I have learned and am reminded of the research that I
have already done is that Latin America includes so much more than Mexico, El
Salvadore and the Central America area as I seem to have pre-embedded in my
head.
I have also learned that we are not so different a people, just being able to
more to the table from the different areas of the earth we live in.
Thirdly, I have learned that MoLAA plays a very important role in educating
people in this country as to the diversity within our boundaries as well as
that of our neighbors and that MoLAA plans to keep expanding, growing and
progressing in the endeavor of educating us.
